Mint & Cacao Smoothie

This is a great tasting, smoothie version of mint chocolate ice cream. Some of the healthy green smoothies can be a bit of an acquired taste, but this recipe manages to pack in a cup of healthy iron rich spinach without you even knowing. The bitter cacao nibs add a hint of chocolate flavour and are balanced out by the sweet dates. A scoop of protein powder helps to give you a thicker consistency, and lastly the fresh mint leaves brighten the whole smoothie up. This makes a great breakfast, or post-workout smoothie.

Method

  1. Add the protein powder and milk to your blender and blend until well combined.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients and blend until the spinach is combined and you have a nice green colour.

Top Tips

Adjust the amount of milk to get the thickness of smoothie you enjoy. Use a little less if you have fresh spinach instead of frozen.
